He was a general and dairy farmer, keeping in 1895, besides other cattle, a fine herd of twenty-six grade Jerseys, which averaged no less than 280 pounds of butter per head annually. His farm was especially adapted to the requirements of the dairy, for a fine natural and never-failing spring of water effects the temperature for cooling the cans, and also furnishes power by which the churning is done. The farm has facilities for making "gilt-edged" butter; and every pound William put on the market was proof of his abilities. William was a Republican and member of the United Presbyterian Church. His mother lived with the family in 1895.
William moved West. In 1910 he was a coal miner in Gunnison Co., CO with his wife Clara and daughter Wilma. In 1930 he was a hardware merchant in Gunnison, Gunnison Co., CO with his wife Clara and daughter Wilma.
